2011 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR

Overview
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur continues to be one of the most refined and luxurious sedans available today. Yes, Rolls-Royce offers two sedans for the ultra-wealthy, but for the consumer in search of something different, Bentley's Flying Spur sedan should perform well.
As on the Continental coupe and convertible, the Flying Spur sedan comes with a 552 horsepower, 6.0-liter W-12 engine standard. Bentley revised the front and rear styling in 2008, though most won't notice the change. Since the sedan was introduced in 2005, the Flying Spur's upscale design has assured its owners the car will be placed at the front of the valet.
The Flying Spur shares about 60 percent of its parts with the coupe and both use all-wheel drive to make the most of the 12-cylinder engine whether in regular or Speed model variants. This means you'll still enjoy an incredibly well-crafted interior as you cruise – quietly – at triple-digit speeds across the highway. Essentially, the Continental Flying Spur adapts the coupe's strengths to a package big enough for four adults to share in comfort.

The Range

Bodystyles: Sedan
Engines: 6.0L W-12
Transmissions: 6-speed automatic
Models: Flying Spur, Flying Spur Speed

What's New

The Continental Flying Spur is quieter inside than ever before. That's due to acoustic side and rear glass as well as other tweaks that result in a 5-decibel reduction in interior noise. The suspension has been retuned and, for 2011, all Continentals are FlexFuel compatible: owners can fill their tanks with regular petrol, E85 bioethanol, or a mix of the two.

Exterior

The Continental GT's powerful presence is accentuated by the addition of two rear doors. Classic circular headlights combine with an upright grille and large wheels to create a strong styling statement from any angle.

Interior

Bentley uses at least 11 hides of leather to adorn the Continental's cabin. The hand-polished wood veneers take two weeks to prepare for each Continental Flying Spur. Needless to say, interior quality is a primary reason to consider a Bentley Continental.

Performance & Handling

Continental Flying Spurs have a 552 horsepower, 6.0-liter W-12 engine. If that's not enough, get the Flying Spur Speed, which boasts 600 horsepower and a top speed of 200 mph. All Continentals are underpinned by all-wheel drive, and a retuned suspension was added in 2009. Flying Spur Speed models are 0.4 inches lower than the standard model and have larger anti-roll bars and an upgraded Bosch 8.1 stability control system.

Safety

Huge brakes ensure strong stopping power, radar-based adaptive cruise control with a follow-to-stop feature, standard all-wheel drive, advanced electronic stability program, rear view camera.

EPA Fuel Economy

Flying Spur, Flying Spur Speed: 10 mpg city/17 mpg highway
